Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Salary
Pay: €60,000–€65,000 a year - Permanent, Full-time
Purpose of the Post
To support the Director of Nursing in the clinical and professional leadership of the care team and to deliver direct resident care.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure the provision of a high standard of care to residents and families in consistency with the mission, vision, values, and strategic healthcare plan.
Promote and maintain resident safety, respecting dignity, privacy, and rights.
Develop relationships with residents to facilitate resident autonomy, informed choice, and evidence-based decision‑making.
Recognize residents as individuals, prioritizing their rights, needs, and comfort.
Use management styles that maximize residents' capacity to exercise autonomy and choice.
Communicate effectively with residents and families to meet their needs.
Ensure continuity of care by providing information on resident circumstances, medication, treatment, and ongoing support to health and social care professionals.
Arrange comprehensive assessment by an appropriate health and social care professional of the health, personal, and social care needs of a resident immediately before or upon admission.
Prepare an individual care plan based on the assessment within 48 hours of admission, making it accessible to the resident and relevant parties.
Essential Qualifications
Registered General Nurse, held by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Post‑registration qualification in nursing with dementia care.
Evidence of continuous professional development.
Post‑registration management qualification in health or related field.
Desirable Qualifications
Postgraduate Diploma in Gerontology.
QQI Level 6 or higher certificate in Management and/or Leadership.
Minimum three years postgraduate experience, including at least two years of experience in the care of the older person.
At least three years in a management capacity within the health and social care area.
Experience in psycho‑geriatric nursing care / psychiatry / adult disabled populations.
In‑depth knowledge of the ageing process.
