Overview
Senior Hydrogeologist role at Arup, Dublin.
Responsibilities
* Groundwater resource development and investigations including aquifer resource studies, groundwater supply well design, drilling and pumping test supervision.
* Design and supervision of hydrogeological ground investigations including monitoring borehole installations, permeability testing, soil/water quality monitoring, data logger installations.
* Conceptualisation of hydrogeological environments including data analysis and visualisation and presentation to clients.
* Lead hydrogeology components of Environmental Impact Assessments for major infrastructure projects working in multi-disciplinary teams.
* Groundwater quality studies including catchment based nutrient assessments and site-specific contaminant impact assessments.
* Project management of hydrogeology projects and collaboration within larger project teams with responsibility for production of deliverables.
* Involvement with international projects including interaction with other Arup offices and community engagement and charity projects delivering groundwater supplies in developing countries.
* Opportunity to develop technical and business skills within a large Ground Engineering team and to build relationships with Arup’s engineering community and client teams.
Qualifications
* Degree qualified in Geology, Geography, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, with MSc in Hydrogeology or equivalent preferred. Higher degrees in Hydrogeology are ideal; relevant hydrogeology experience may be considered for other degrees.
* Six or more years of postgraduate experience in hydrogeology; applicants with varying levels of experience will be considered.
Desirable Skills
* Excellent report writing skills; proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ArcView (or similar GIS).
* Professional accreditation (PGeo) with Institute of Geologists of Ireland or similar is an advantage; if not yet achieved, ability to work toward it.
* Enthusiasm and experience in hydrogeology gained on projects; inquisitive and solution-oriented design approach.
* Experience liaising with and supervising site investigation contractors.
* Strong planning, organisational and time management abilities; willingness to develop commercial acumen.
* Motivated and open to new challenges.
