Project Engineer-Mechanical – Dublin, Ireland
The Project Engineer‑Mechanical will be assigned to the Delivery function within the Infrastructure Department’s Portfolio, working across a range of engineering disciplines, including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering. The role will support the planning, coordination, and management of construction quality assurance, quality control, and construction supervision activities, as required, across the Infrastructure Department’s Portfolio.
The Project Engineer will also be responsible for contributing to the safe and effective delivery of projects, ensuring compliance with quality standards and the achievement of schedule and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out duties as directed by the Project Manager and Head of Construction.
Maintain an on-site presence during construction activities to oversee and monitor project progress.
Monitor compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Actively promote and contribute to a positive safety culture within the project team and across construction sites.
Attend and participate in safety leadership meetings as required.
Undertake the role of Site Project Manager (SPM) in accordance with the Contracting Entity’s Airport Direction D‑O Construction Projects and complete all required training to achieve and maintain competency for the role.
Perform any additional responsibilities assigned under the Contracting Entity’s Airport Directions or Safety Management System.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of 10 years’ experience delivering major mechanical and building infrastructure projects, preferably within the aviation sector.
Demonstrated experience working on airport construction projects at international airports or within similarly complex, highly regulated operational environments.
Strong technical knowledge of infrastructure development, engineering design, and project delivery, with particular expertise in construction methodologies, sequencing, and site execution.
Proven experience in developing, documenting, and implementing construction best‑practice frameworks, policies, procedures, and technical standards to support safe and efficient project delivery.
Experience collaborating with and influencing a broad range of internal and external stakeholders at all organisational levels to drive continuous improvement in project processes, governance, and delivery practices.
Proven ability to operate effectively in a site‑based role within a live aviation environment, balancing operational, safety, and construction requirements.
Strong understanding of construction quality management, health and safety legislation, environmental compliance, and project controls.
Excellent communication, coordination, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced project environment.
