Reporting to the Shift Manager deputised by the Production Manager, the job holder is responsible for the day‑to‑day print manufacturing process as instructed through the print plan. On a day‑to‑day basis, the job holder will report to the Print Supervisors and is expected to deliver print in accordance with the customer specification, playing a key role in standardising the ways of working by following the site procedures and policies at all times.
Specific Areas of Responsibility
* Work to practices that support the site hygiene, food safety, environmental and safety programmes.
* Manufacture goods accurately and timely whilst maintaining compliance at all times.
* Input to local print forums that are challenged with delivering operational excellence through continuous improvement, especially in the field of SMED and yield.
* Maintain clear communication with the print management team, CI, Compliance and Engineering managers.
* Deliver day‑to‑day printed goods and report any press or external issues that may cause the plan to change or cease.
* Demonstrate the appropriate attitudes and behaviours, encouraging the delivery of individual and team objectives. Links to the SMED team are vital.
* Communicate the print plan status at all times using agreed tools and techniques; accurate data entry into the Radius system is required for ongoing analysis.
* Support the “manage by facts” culture by monitoring and communicating print‑related information to the supervisory team.
* Promote teamwork and the day‑to‑day improvement of internal customer‑supplier relationships.
Tasks
* Daily production of the print plan in accordance with the specification.
* Work in a safe manner at all times and support the site safety objectives, reporting any safety concerns to the Production Supervisors.
* Deliver the print plan on time and cost‑consciously.
* Contribute to Operations improvement forums through involvement and dialogue.
* Adhere to local risk assessments and the quality systems.
* Follow the site environmental objectives day‑to‑day.
* Develop personally through coaching, internal courses and appraisal.
* Work in accordance with all site guides and procedures.
* Strengthen internal customer‑supplier relationships by understanding other team goals, especially in SMED and yield.
Experience
* Experienced printer; lithographic printing experience is an advantage.
* Strong attention to detail, working accurately and ensuring deadlines are met.
* Ambassador for Continuous Improvement.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience with Radius is an advantage.
