Catering Chef role at Walters Hospitality

Overview: Walters Hospitality is seeking a Catering Chef to support the Hub Chef and Sous Chef. The role focuses on getting the right food to the right place, at the right time, at the right temperature, and at the right cost. Activities include prepping, cooking, transporting and serving food. The Catering Chef must always dress professionally while on duty or on company property.


What You’ll Do

* Takes direction for all day-to-day operations in the kitchen from the Hub Chef
* Perform and complete all assigned kitchen tasks without constant supervision
* Meet and/or exceed established food preparation standards on a consistent basis
* Practice fundamentals of good cooking, preparation according to well-defined recipes, and excellent plating presentations while always discussing ways to improve the cuisine at the property
* Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards
* Maintain proper grooming and hygiene standards
* Meet weekly with Hub Chef and other key venue team members to review ongoing concerns and implement appropriate action
* Ensure sanitation and health code requirements are met and maintained; promote and supervise cleanliness and order of all service areas; report maintenance needs promptly
* Report all equipment in the kitchen that needs maintenance
* Follow all applicable safety procedures for kitchen and food servers
* Alert Hub Chef to any food waste
* Perform additional duties as requested by management as needed


Qualifications

* Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent; culinary degree preferred
* Required Experience: 1-2 years of successful culinary experience
* Certifications: Serve Safe Food Handlers
* Physical Requirements: Able to lift 30 lbs frequently; stand/walk 8-12 hours
* Other: Submit to a background and drug test; have a valid driver's license and clean driving record


Compensation & Schedule

* Part-Time: Weekends and Evenings when events take place
* Must be available and willing to work weekends, holidays, late nights
* Hourly: $18 - $20 per hour, based on experience
* 401k with 4% Match
