We're hiring a Qualified Accountant to take ownership of a diverse client portfolio across sole traders, farmers, and audit-exempt companies. This isn't about processing numbers—it's about being the trusted advisor who delivers both technical accuracy and strategic value.
Here's what this actually means:
This position demands
technical competence and timeliness in equal measure.
You'll prepare accounts to trial balance, manage tax computations (income and corporation), handle VAT returns, and run payroll—all while maintaining the standards that keep clients coming back. We're looking for someone with 1-3 years in general practice who knows the difference between getting it done and getting it right.
If you need constant supervision or miss deadlines, this isn't the right fit.
You'll own client relationships from day-to-day delivery through to future planning. That means difficult conversations when their records are incomplete, proactive recommendations when you spot tax planning opportunities, and the confidence to represent the firm professionally in every interaction.
This is an
office-based role in Clonakilty
. They value collaboration, knowledge-sharing across their 2500+ colleague network, and building the kind of close-knit team culture that makes complex work manageable. If you're looking for remote-only flexibility, this isn't structured that way.
They measure success in work quality, client retention, and your ongoing professional development. You'll be expected to maintain CPD, stay current with evolving standards, and bring innovation to how you work with SMEs.
The upside:
* Own a diverse portfolio with genuine progression opportunities
* Work within a national network that combines local relationships with collective expertise
* Comprehensive benefits: 25 days annual leave + bank holidays, life assurance (4x salary), enhanced family leave, pension scheme
* Professional development support and clear career pathway
* Christmas closure period and ability to buy additional leave
* Flexible benefits platform (PMI, critical illness, dental, cycle to work)
What you need:
* ACA/ACCA qualified
(or final stages)
* 1-3 years general accounting practice experience
* In-depth knowledge of Accounting and Auditing Standards
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Self-motivated with passion for client service and technical excellence
