An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Embodied Carbon in Buildings Specialists to join our clients Technical Department, supporting the development of a national life-cycle Global Warming Potential (GWP) calculation methodology for new buildings under the recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
These roles offer the chance to work on a high-impact national programme, helping to shape Ireland's approach to embodied carbon measurement, reporting and building rating systems, while collaborating with key stakeholders across the sector.

Responsibilities
12. Work with the Programme Manager to develop and implement an embodied carbon building rating calculation methodology, taking account of the requirements of Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
13. Populate a database of construction materials and their embodied carbon emissions.
14. Validate and verify all entries to the database of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
15. The procurement of technical consultancy services to support the development a national Lifecycle GWP calculation methodology.
16. Facilitate and report to the national Embodied Carbon Steering Group.
17. Work with the Building Energy Rating methodology and software teams to integrate Global Warming Potential (GWP) into Building Energy Rating (BER) certificates.
18. Development of a methodology to determine the Smart Readiness of Buildings and to integrate Smart Readiness Indicators (SRI) into Building Energy Rating (BER) certificates.
19. Undertake any other duties/projects as may be assigned from time to time within the wider residential programme and across other Business Units.
20. To ensure that activity peaks within the Department are addressed in a proactive manner, it is expected that the candidate appointed to this role will need to be flexible in terms of working hours during these periods.
Requirements
21. A degree (a minimum Level 7 on the NFQ) in a relevant technical or operational field e.g., Environmental Science, Structural, Mechanical, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Building Services, Sustainability, Architecture, Quantity Surveyor, Economics, Circular Economy, or other fields relevant to life cycle assessment.
22. A minimum of four years' directly relevant experience working in building or structural design or life cycle assessment or similar (postgraduate studies may be included).
23. Demonstrated experience in data extraction and analysis.
24. Strong project management and knowledge of business process development.
25. Excellent communication (written and oral) and the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
