EHS Lead Pharmaceutical Construction Project Location: Dublin (Pharma/Life Sciences Campus) Project: Large-Scale Manufacturing Expansion Contract Type: Senior, Full-Time, Site-Based Sector: Pharmaceutical / Life Sciences (GMP, Cleanroom, Process, MEP) Reporting To: Project Director / Client EHS Lead Role Overview A highly experienced EHS Lead is required to oversee all Health, Safety and Environmental functions on a major pharmaceutical expansion project.
This senior role involves managing all aspects of safety strategy, compliance, governance, and performance across complex construction and engineering work packages including cleanrooms, utilities, process systems and MEP installations.
Key Responsibilities EHS Leadership & Strategy Develop and implement the Project EHS Plan and overall safety strategy.
Lead the on-site EHS team (Officers, Coordinators).
Drive a strong behavioural safety culture across all project stakeholders.
Compliance & Governance Ensure compliance with Irish H&S legislation, client standards, GMP requirements and project procedures.
Lead risk assessments, audit programmes and regulatory reviews.
Approve RAMS, method statements and high-risk work permits.
Site Oversight & Risk Management Oversee safety across all major scopes including: Mechanical, electrical and process systems Cleanroom installation and commissioning HVAC and utilities upgrades Complex energisation and LOTO activities Conduct safety walks and high-risk activity observations.
Track safety KPIs and implement proactive improvement measures.
Incident Investigation & Reporting Lead investigations using appropriate root cause methodologies.
Produce corrective and preventive action plans.
Report safety performance to senior leadership and client teams.
Training, Induction & Communication Deliver specialist training relevant to a regulated pharmaceutical environment.
Provide leadership-level safety briefings and presentations.
Chair weekly EHS meetings and coordinate safety communications.
Environmental Management Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and project environmental plans.
Manage waste streams, chemical handling, spill response and emissions controls.
Monitor environmental performance and produce reports.
Qualifications & Experience 7+ years EHS experience, including senior or lead roles.
Strong background in pharmaceutical, biopharma, medical device, or other highly regulated construction projects.
Degree, Diploma or Level 7+ qualification in EHS or Environmental Science.
Deep knowledge of PTW, process safety, GMP, cleanroom protocols and MEP operations.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
