Remote Role (MUST reside in Ireland and MUST have relevant works visa for ireland) Experienced Senior Data Engineer to lead the design and delivery of scalable, high-performance data solutions. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical expert with deep knowledge of SQL and Oracle, strong development skills in Groovy or Java, and the ability to influence architecture, mentor team members, and drive best practices across the data platform. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and optimization of complex data pipelines and data architectures Own and optimize advanced SQL development, with a strong focus on Oracle performance, data modeling, and tuning Develop, review, and maintain data processing logic using Groovy and/or Java, ensuring high code quality and reusability Architect and oversee data orchestration and ingestion workflows using tools such as Airflow, Airbyte, or similar Design and implement robust integrations with external systems using SOAP and REST APIs Define and enforce ETL/ELT standards, data quality frameworks, and automation strategies Lead unit, integration, and end-to-end testing initiatives for data pipelines Provide technical leadership through code reviews, design reviews, and mentoring of junior and mid-level engineers Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions Actively contribute within an Agile environment, helping drive sprint planning, technical refinement, and delivery commitments Promote best practices for version control, CI/CD, and release management Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical discipline 5+ years of hands-on experience with SQL, with deep expertise in Oracle (PostgreSQL or other RDBMS experience is a plus) 4+ years of experience with Java or Groovy, with strong preference for Groovy 3+ years of experience with orchestration and ingestion tools (e.g., Airflow, Airbyte) 3+ years of experience integrating with web service APIs (SOAP and REST) Strong experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows Proven experience implementing automation, unit testing, integration testing, and data validation frameworks Solid understanding of cloud storage concepts (e.g., S3, Blob storage, Oracle Buckets) Nice to Have Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouse platforms and ELT/ETL tools (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, DBT) Experience designing data solutions in cloud-native or hybrid architectures Exposure to performance tuning and cost optimization in large-scale data environments Benefits: Work From Home
