Overview

Clare Tourism Development DAC Development is a subsidiary Company of Clare County Council that oversees the management, development, and promotion of a portfolio of signature visitor attractions and sites throughout Clare.

Position Overview:

The Operations Manager will lead the day-to-day operations at Loop Head Lighthouse and other Clare Tourism Development sites, ensuring exceptional visitor experiences, operational efficiency, and compliance with health and safety standards. Key responsibilities include team leadership, maintenance coordination, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement. The role requires a minimum of 3 years' experience in operational management, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for tourism in County Clare. This is a full-time, year-round position with seasonal site rotations and weekend work expected. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the successful candidate will work closely with site teams to enhance the visitor experience and operational performance across multiple attractions.

Key Responsibilities

* Oversee daily operations at Loop Head Lighthouse and other CTD sites, ensuring smooth and efficient visitor experiences.
* Lead the Operations team, including supervisory staff and customer service agents.
* Manage staffing levels, approve monthly rosters, and supervise daily schedules to ensure optimal coverage and accountability.
* Coordinate all operational activities to meet organisational objectives and deliver world-class visitor experience.


Health, Safety & Compliance

* Ensure full compliance with health and safety standards for staff and visitors.
* Conduct capacity planning and visitor flow management.
* Implement and enforce standard operating procedures, policies, and legislative requirements.
* Manage crisis situations, including weather events and emergency evacuations.


Performance & Quality Management

* Achieve key performance indicators (KPIs), including sales targets and operational viability.
* Maintain high standards of site presentation and facility management.
* Handle customer feedback and complaints professionally.
* Monitor and report on operational performance to the General Manager, CTD West.


Maintenance & Infrastructure

* Oversee light maintenance and coordinate all site maintenance activities (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, security).
* Develop and implement preventative and corrective maintenance plans.
* Ensure maintenance activities are efficient, safe, and minimally disruptive.
* Drive continuous improvement in maintenance procedures.


Stakeholder & Team Engagement

* Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support site operations.
* Foster a positive workplace culture built on trust, respect, and open communication.
* Lead internal communications and team meetings to enhance productivity and cohesion.


Strategic Development & Projects

* Develop and implement operational plans to improve site performance.
* Deliver special projects and initiatives as assigned.
* Research and recommend innovations to enhance service delivery.

* Experience leading teams in small to medium-sized enterprises.
* Excellent teamwork, motivation, attention to detail and organizational abilities.

* Ability to uphold company standards, policies, and procedures.
* Full, clean driving license required with own transport.
* Successful candidates will be required to complete full pre-employment medical.
* Flexibility and willingness to travel between sites as required.


Work Location

During the Loop Head Lighthouse opening season, the role will be fully based on-site. For the remainder of the year, the position will rotate to other Clare Tourism Development DAC sites, initially at Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, though this may change based on operational needs.


Probation Period

There shall be a period of probation of six months where contingent on a satisfactory performance review the role will be offered on a permanent basis.


Interview Process

Selection will be by means of a competition based on an interview conducted by or on behalf of Clare Tourism Development DAC. This will be an in-person interview.

A panel of up to 2-3 individuals will conduct the interview.
