Occupational Health and Safety Professional

This is a rewarding opportunity to join our team as an Occupational Health and Safety Professional. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of personnel on construction sites.

Key Responsibilities
\
* Familiarise yourself with relevant Health and Safety Legislation affecting construction work.
* Identify hazards and assess risks on site.
* Communicate Health and Safety requirements to managers, supervisors, and workers on site.
\
Duties on Site
\
* Conduct weekly site inspections to monitor compliance with health and safety standards.
* Supervise contractors from appointment through to training and ongoing supervision.
* Perform risk assessments for all aspects of work and maintain continuous monitoring and updating of systems.
* Review and implement traffic management, lifting operations, and other relevant systems to ensure site safety.

Candidates should possess:
\
* A comprehensive understanding of hazards associated with construction work and knowledge of how to control them.
* Knowledge of construction and general health and safety management systems (ISO 45001:2018).
* Strong computer skills and IT literacy.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
\
Essential qualifications include:
\
* A Level 7 Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (National Framework of Qualifications).
* No less than 3 years of satisfactory experience in construction work and knowledge of construction methods, site management, and design process.
* Current Safe Pass Card.
* Valid driving license.
* Use of own transport.

This role may involve:
\
* Implementing, managing, and maintaining the Integrated Management System (IMS) accredited to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.
* Developing an inspection programme to ensure regular site visits and inspections.
* Liaising with the Engineering Team onsite and reporting findings at meetings.
* Maintaining the Register of Health & Safety Legislation as part of the IMS.
* Undertaking risk assessments and coordinating emergency procedures.
* Developing and organising the annual Health and Safety Training Programme.
* Controlling and managing the Project Risk Assessment and Safety Plan Database.
* Ensuring all relevant registers are in place and maintained within the Southwest Region.
* Identifying changes in existing relevant Health & Safety Legislation.
* Communicating Health & Safety matters to all employees.
* Attending Regional Meetings, Safety Committee Meetings, and Safety Management Meetings.
* Reporting, recording, and investigating incidents, accidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational health and safety, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
