As a part of The Buildings Unit (BLD) and The MEP Team in Ireland, you will collaborate on projects in Built Environment, Transport, Water and Advisory sectors, across our offices in Belfast, Dublin and Cork, with links to sister offices in the UK.
Overview Of The Role
As Principal Electrical Engineer, you will assess project requirements, perform electrical design across multiple disciplines, and agree timescales and specifications with design teams, clients and managers. You will lead and direct junior staff and prepare documents, reports and health and safety risk assessments, while interpreting commercial and contractual aspects of project correspondence.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the delivery of electrical elements of multi-disciplinary projects across sectors including Built Environment, Water, Transport and Advisory; liaise with associated engineering disciplines.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders.
* Carry out design and calculation work using relevant industry software (e.g., Amtech, IES, Relux, Revit).
* Demonstrate technical expertise and coach/develop junior team members.
* Develop, maintain and monitor programmes for scheduling and reporting deliverables.
* Maximise profitability, monitor budgets, anticipate problems, and communicate with clients.
Areas Of Expertise
Essential electrical building services design experience in areas such as:
* Healthcare
* Education
* Industrial/pharma
* Water/Wastewater
* Food Processing
* Transportation
* Data Centres
* Lighting and Emergency Lighting; familiar with Trimble (Amtech), Relux, Dialux
* External Lighting (roads/highways)
* General Power and Services, including Fire Detection and Alarm, CCTV, Access Control, Power and Data
* MV switchgear and transformers
* LV Distribution and MCCs with wiring schematics, SLDs
* Transformers 20kV/10kV to 400V
* 3-phase and single-phase systems
* BMS and SCADA
* Instrumentation, Control and Automation
* BIM, AutoCAD and Revit
* Site experience an advantage; services co-ordination in buildings and underground services
Candidate Specification
Essential
* B.Eng / M.Eng
* Chartered Engineer
* Experience leading electrical services and some multi-disciplinary projects
* Experience mentoring and leading graduate engineers
* Enthusiastic and ambitious
* Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills
* Ability to lead electrical elements of large projects or a portfolio of smaller projects
* Experience managing client relationships and attending client-facing meetings (Teams)
