Job Proposal: Chef – Salad Bar, Sandwiches & Savoury Pastries

Location: ÁITIÚIL, Unit 1 Creagan, Bearna Co. Galway H91 NC56

Position Type: Full-Time (Approx. 40 hours/week, daytime hours to suit the needs of the business)

Start Date: Flexible

We are looking for a passionate, creative, and highly competent Chef to join our team and take the lead in establishing and managing a vibrant, high-quality salad and sandwich bar with a selection of savoury pastries. This is a unique opportunity to shape a fresh and exciting food concept from the ground up and help position our store as a go-to lunch destination in the area.

Key Responsibilities:

Set up and manage a fresh and innovative salad bar with made-to-order and grab-and-go options. Develop a rotating menu of sandwiches and savoury pastries that showcase seasonal ingredients and creative flair. Costing, ordering and stock management to ensure profitability and minimal waste.Ensure full compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations, keeping procedures up-to-date and consistently followed.Maintain daily prep and service standards, ensuring consistency, quality, and visual appeal of all offerings. Collaborate with the wider team while also demonstrating the ability to work independently and take initiative. Help develop a welcoming food experience that builds a loyal customer base and strong word-of-mouth reputation.

About You: A skilled chef with experience in fresh, fast-paced food environments – ideally with salads, sandwiches, or café-style offerings. Strong understanding of costing, margins, and inventory management. Up-to-date with current food safety standards and practices (certification preferred). Able to manage day-to-day kitchen operations with efficiency and professionalism. A natural self-starter who thrives when given creative freedom and responsibility. Positive, reliable, and great at working both independently and as part of a team.
