Company Overview We are a growing mechanical engineering and fabrication company delivering projects across industrial, commercial, and pharmaceutical sectors. Our work includes mechanical installation, pipe fabrication, structural steel, and bespoke engineering solutions. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a detail-driven Procurement Officer to support our workshop and site operations. Role Purpose The Procurement Officer will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating materials, plant, equipment, and services required for both workshop fabrication and live construction sites. This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects run efficiently, on time, and within budget while maintaining strong supplier relationships and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Purchasing Source and purchase materials, components, tools, plant, PPE, and services for workshop and site operations Raise and manage purchase orders in line with internal approval processes Ensure materials meet required specifications, quality standards, and certifications Obtain and compare supplier quotations to achieve best value for money Track lead times and proactively manage potential delays Supplier & Vendor Management Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors Maintain an approved supplier list in line with ISO and company requirements Liaise with suppliers regarding deliveries, back orders, returns, and discrepancies Support supplier evaluations and documentation for quality compliance Logistics & Coordination Coordinate deliveries to workshops and multiple sites Work closely with site supervisors, engineers, and fabrication teams to understand material requirements Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory control to avoid shortages or over-ordering Resolve delivery or supply issues quickly to minimise disruption to projects Cost Control & Administration Monitor procurement costs and highlight potential savings opportunities Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, delivery dockets, and invoices Assist accounts with invoice matching and queries Support reporting on spend, suppliers, and project costs Compliance & Systems Ensure procurement activities align with company policies and ISO standards (ISO ) Support traceability of materials where required (e.g. steel, pipe, welding consumables) Use procurement, ERP, or project management systems to manage orders and records Assist with audits and internal reviews related to procurement and suppliers Skills & Experience Essential Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, or office administration (construction or engineering an advantage) Strong organisational and time-management skills High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple orders and priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills with suppliers and internal teams Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) Personal Attributes Proactive and solution-focused Reliable and well-organised Comfortable working independently and as part of a team Confident communicating with suppliers, engineers, and site teams Commercially aware with a cost-conscious mindset What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience Opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding engineering company Supportive team environment Exposure to large-scale and technically interesting projects Long-term career development opportunities
