Our purpose is to support our clients’ success by adopting a partnership approach, leveraging our sector-leading expertise, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.Reporting StructureReporting to Team Lead and in their absence Assistant Waste Enforcement Manager.Job PurposeThe Environmental Compliance Officer – Waste Enforcement is responsible for conducting daily inspections and investigating complaints to ensure compliance with relevant waste legislation. The role will be based out of our client’s offices and may require travel to other locations throughout the country. You will have experience in process-driven activities, ensuring they are effective and efficient whilst also focusing on client relations.Success CriteriaThis is an operational role with accountability for delivering accurate and timely outcomes.ContextInvestigate and report on all aspects of illegal waste activity.Ensure compliance with waste legislation and regulations made under the Waste Management Act 1996 and Regulation (EC) 1013 of 2007 on the international shipment of waste. This will include:Inspecting and auditing all producers of wasteInspecting and auditing waste facilitiesInspecting and auditing waste collection permit holdersInspecting waste in transitCollect, manage and interpret data and gather intelligence in relation to illegal waste activitiesAccurately record the outcome of audits/complaint investigations and update data management systemsConduct overt and covert surveillance when necessaryPrepare written reports on all non-compliances and suspected breaches of the legislationGive evidence in court cases resulting from your investigationsLiaise with other enforcement bodies, including Local Authorities, the Environmental Protection Agency, An Garda Síochána, Customs & Revenue Service and othersOther duties as may be required from time to timeBehavioursTime managementEffective communicationData managementAnalytical thinking & technical knowledgeRequired Skills and ExperienceDegree in Environmental Sciences (or similar), NVQ Level 8 or higher, and/or a minimum of 10 years years full time experience of investigating, taking of enforcement actions, compliance assistance, preparing court files and giving evidence in courtFull clean driver’s licence (min category B)Fluent in written and oral EnglishExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent organisational skills and attention to detailDemonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environmentGood knowledge of Microsoft OfficeWhat’s on OfferOpportunity to work across a variety of brands and productsA supportive, friendly teamA dynamic, forward-thinking organisation that welcomes innovationPrimarily, hybrid, with the opportunity for remote working (subject to meeting business requirements)Discretionary bonus scheme24 days annual leave, plus bank holidays (This will be pro-rated to part-time hours)Bike to work schemeRefer a friend schemeSick payPension Scheme, which includes death-in-service benefit, income protection and defined contributionsEmployee Assistance ProgrammeReady to Make an Impact?Join Amtivo and help us drive positive change in the environmental sector.
