Energy Engineer
Team Horizon is seeking an Energy Technical Services Officer for a role in Galway.
The main function is to advance energy and carbon reduction through energy management teams and behavioural change programmes. Support, promote, and actively participate in sustainable energy, decarbonisation, water, and transport initiatives to create more sustainable, low-carbon, and efficient facilities.

What you will be doing:
* Monitoring and reporting on energy consumption in healthcare premises.
* Supporting existing and initiating new Energy Awareness Management Teams in identified locations.
* Building on best practices in existing areas.
* Establishing Energy Management Teams in various locations, including Hospital Manager, Finance Manager, Maintenance Manager, and Estates Representative.
* Working closely with Hospital Green Teams and Energy Teams.
* Providing metered energy and water usage data, comparators, and KPIs.
* Progressing energy audits.
* Compiling action plans for each location.
* Running staff "User Education" and "Energy Awareness Programmes".
* Building on the OPW’s ‘Optimising Power @ Work’ programme work.
* Progressing Display Energy Certificates.
* Producing a register of opportunities and supporting project development for retrofit projects.
* Utilising nationally agreed tools to assess project benefits.
* Progressing funding applications for capital works.
* Managing the specification, design, procurement, and completion of minor energy capital works.
* Reviewing the MIC for all supply points.
* The Technical Services Officer, Senior Assistant (Energy Officer), will:
* Work closely with and advise The National Estates Energy Unit.
* Be an active member of the Regional Energy Bureau.
* Collaborate across all Regional Energy Bureau functions.
* Report to the National Capital & Estates Energy Unit Estates Manager.
* Provide monthly activity, progress, and expenditure reports.
* Contribute to the annual energy minor works programme using assessment tools.
What you need to apply:
* Hold a Level 8 (or higher) QQI major award in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Sustainable Energy Engineering.
* Membership of Engineers Ireland.
* At least five years’ experience in mechanical or electrical engineering, including design, project management, or maintenance of buildings/services.
* Possess the knowledge and ability to perform the role effectively.
* Must be of good character.
