Our client is seeking a Network Operations Team Lead to work for their largest global technology customer. This role is an excellent fit for a senior network engineer or an engineer with mentorship experience who is ready to take on a technically influential position - no prior people-management experience is required.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, optimising, and troubleshooting advanced optical and IP network infrastructure. They will take ownership of complex operational issues, lead critical troubleshooting efforts, and help ensure the stability and performance of a large-scale global network environment.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations & Optimisation
* Configure, maintain, and optimise hardware across optical and IP layers
* Perform advanced troubleshooting across multi-vendor hardware and software stacks
* Monitor network health, performance, and capacity
* Support infrastructure scaling to meet operational and business demands
Incident Response & Problem Management
* Lead troubleshooting for complex and high-impact network issues
* Investigate anomalies, performance degradations, and service disruptions
* Deliver clear, detailed RCAs and remediation plans
* Work closely with internal engineering teams, partners, and vendors to restore services efficiently
Collaboration & Technical Leadership
* Collaborate with global service providers, data center teams, and engineering groups to ensure end-to-end network stability
* Support deployment projects, technology refresh initiatives, and network expansion efforts
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers and junior engineers
* Contribute to operational best practices and continuous improvement
Required Skills & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent hands-on experience
* 5+ years of experience in IP and/or optical network operations or engineering
* Strong understanding of DWDM/CWDM, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPv4/IPv6
* Excellent grasp of fiber systems, cabling standards, optics, and patching
* Proven experience producing thorough root cause analyses
* Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills
