We are also open to discussing part-time, flexible, and hybrid working options if suitable within the role.You’ll Be Responsible ForLead the HSSEQ team within the Safety function of the MetroLink Directorate.Oversee the delivery of health and safety, security, environmental and quality (HSSEQ) delivery standards and the compliance requirements for all MetroLink’s project activities.Ensure a holistic approach to health and safety is adopted across all aspects of delivery, including the wellbeing and culture of the MetroLink Directorate.Design, develop and implement HSSEQ management systems, processes and tools and ensure they are fit for purpose and continually improved upon.Ensure all design, construction, testing and commissioning works will be carried out in compliance with applicable health and safety regulations.Develop and implement a safety management system with a systematic approach to managing safety, including structures, accountabilities, policies and procedures using a plan, do, check, act approach.Develop a strategy and plan to update and develop the health and safety systems, controls, processes and procedures, bringing industry best practice and lessons learned.Lead in the implementation of this strategy to develop a complete health and safety management system for the project, in line with best practices and relevant standards.Oversee the drafting of health and safety requirements for contracts, input into procurement documents, and lead in evaluating health and safety elements of tender submissions.Coordinate works with the Project Delivery Partner to align with HSSEQ requirements and industry best practice.Embed a strong health and safety culture across the project, including campaigns and communication to stakeholders.Monitor, analyse and report on safety performance across the project, including related roles and contractors.Manage HSSEQ team performance and implement programme-wide HSSEQ KPI reporting.Ensure effective recording, reporting and investigation of accidents and incidents and promote a culture of lessons learned and risk reduction.Inform relevant teams of legislative changes and implications for their work streams.Provide expert advice, assistance and support on HSSEQ requirements and maintain competence in HSSEQ management.You’ll Need To Have15+ years’ relevant experience leading and embedding HSSEQ practices into highly complex, large engineering capital delivery projects, with 5+ years’ experience in metro rail projects or similar scale and complexity.Experience managing HSSEQ on site and developing/maintaining HSSEQ management systems (Safe T Cert, OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001).Knowledge of contract documents, forms of contract and specifications.Experience developing health, safety and welfare strategies and programme-wide performance indicators.Experience delivering within regulated and unionised environments; working in safety critical and regulated environments such as metro/rail is desirable.Ability to lead a committed, visionary and inclusive culture; strong planning, governance and delivery skills; ability to set goals and roles for direct reports.Collaborative, positive, and transparent working style; self-motivated with initiative; customer-focused, analytical, and able to solve problems.Excellent written communications and interpersonal skills; strong organizational skills and a can-do attitude; ability to meet strict deadlines and manage conflicting priorities.Strong computer skills including MS Office, Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project/Primavera; ability to manage contractor site meetings.You’ll Also HaveMinimum Level 8 degree (or equivalent) in engineering, project management or related field.Health and safety diploma or degree; Level 9 Masters in a relevant field is advantageous.Chartered member of ISOH; member/fellow of Chartered Quality Institute or appropriate institution.Safepass accreditation; NEBOSH or equivalent.Note: The content above is a refined extraction from the provided description and focuses on the role responsibilities and qualifications.
