Ecological Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled Ecological Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in ecology and the ability to provide expert advice on renewable energy projects.
1. Main Responsibilities:
* Provide technical support to our planning team on ecological matters related to renewable energy projects.
* Conduct baseline ecological surveys of cutaway bogs and contribute to our company's ecology dataset.
* Support data management and maintenance of our internal databases.
* Deliver Environmental Impact Assessments and Appropriate Assessments/Natura Impact Statements for proposed developments.
* Liaise with project consultants, stakeholders, and review reports.
* Provide expertise on ecological aspects of renewable energy projects across the business.
* Develop and update site-specific rehabilitation plans and packages.
* Deliver PCAS requirements, including stakeholder consultation and management.
* Support statutory and legal reporting obligations.
* Assist in peatland rehabilitation projects and deliver our Biodiversity Action Plan.
* Engage with internal stakeholders and consult on the Biodiversity Action Plan.
* Identify new projects that facilitate biodiversity objectives.
* Stay updated on changes in ecology/environmental legislation and inform Business Strategy.
Requirements
* A Level 8+ qualification in ecology or a related scientific subject.
* A minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
* Experience in digital capturing of data using GPS tablets, processing, and manipulation of survey data.
* Proficient in ecological surveying, habitat, and species identification.
* Excellent communication skills.
* A full clean driving license is required.
