Senior Pharmacist Pharmacy Cancer Services Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Provide clinical pharmacist services primarily to haematology, oncology and to a lesser extent to other disciplines. Carry out and supervise aseptic compounding related activities. Report to the Chief II Manager of Pharmacy Cancer Services. Rotate into other pharmacy services on a routine and an ad hoc basis including dispensary (work in and supervise), ward based clinical pharmacy services and weekend rosters. Ward Based Clinical Services: provide or be available to provide clinical pharmacy services in clinical areas to promote safe, effective and economical use of medicines. Clinical areas include but are not limited to: ICU, Emergency Department, Care of the Elderly, Mental Health, Medical and Surgical. The supply and supervision of supply of drugs, pharmaceutical and other related items as may be required. In house training will be provided where required. Medication Safety: Support and work with the Medication Safety Pharmacist. Further develop medication safety systems and routinely participate and contribute to medication safety initiatives. Medicines Information: provide comprehensive and high quality medicines information services to doctors, nurses and other health care professionals. Routinely conduct clinical audit and be available to support or carry out clinical research. Supervise other pharmacy staff and students as assigned. Deliver training and education to doctors, nurses and pharmacy staff. Continually promote professional development including training and mentoring of pharmacists, technicians and students. Participate in the staff rotation system and participate as a key member of the team. Perform other such duties appropriate to the office, as may be assigned by the Pharmacy Manager. Eligibility criteria - Qualifications and Experience: Candidates must be a registered Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) or be entitled to be so registered. Have at least three years satisfactory post registration hospital experience. Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office. Candidates ideally will have experience in Pharmacy Cancer Services. Closing Date: 1pm on Monday, 20th October 2025.
