We are seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join our team on a range of water and infrastructure projects in Carlow. This role offers a hybrid model with frequent site visits, providing the successful candidate with the opportunity to balance work-life commitments.
The primary responsibility of this position will be to support the Project Manager, overseeing site works, preparing technical submissions, liaising with suppliers, monitoring project progress, scheduling resources, implementing quality control procedures, and tracking finances.
* Supervise all site works to ensure timely completion and adherence to safety protocols
* Prepare technical submissions and reports for client approval, highlighting key project milestones and achievements
* Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations and negotiate contracts that meet business objectives
* Monitor and update project progress against the contract program, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed
* Schedule resources and contractors to ensure delivery schedules are met, maintaining open communication channels throughout the project lifecycle
* Prepare method and risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards and ensure compliance with industry regulations
* Implement project quality control procedures to maintain high standards and minimize errors
* Liaise with sub-contractors, resident engineers, and employed tradespeople to ensure seamless collaboration and effective communication
* Track financials and report on project performance, providing insights to inform business decisions
* Schedule crews and sub-contractors to optimize resource allocation and maximize productivity
* Update drawings for construction and vendor packages, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout the project
* Compile O&M manuals to document best practices and knowledge transfer
Requirements:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
* 3+ years of experience in a project engineering role, with a strong track record of delivering complex projects
* Knowledge and experience in the water and wastewater industry, preferably with a focus on plant design, construction, and commissioning
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD and ability to update drawings
* Strong technical, delivery, and commercial skills, with excellent problem-solving abilities
* Experience in managing contracts and sub-contractors, with a proven ability to build strong relationships and negotiate favorable terms
* Ability to work closely with all stakeholders to meet business objectives, including clients, suppliers, and internal teams
