The Role:
The Environmental Regulation function is responsible for the day-to-day management of environmental regulation and compliance. The function monitors the compliance of the water and wastewater network, and treatment works, influences external environmental policy and manages environmental stakeholder relationships. Environmental Regulation provides expertise to the Uisce Eireann business on influencing environmental policy and managing stakeholders around environmental regulation affecting Uisce Eireann’s practices. The function provides regulatory expertise to the business, including the Senior Leadership Team, in all aspects of environmental regulation. The team provides support on legislative and regulatory changes that will affect Uisce Eireann policies in the future.
The Drinking Water Compliance Team is responsible for managing the provision of drinking water monitoring processes with the centralised focus of ensuring both statutory and operational requirements are met. The team develop and support a national strategy for monitoring, sampling, and analytical services across chemical, microbiological, virus and specialist parametric criteria.
Reporting to the Drinking Water Safety Plan Audit Lead, theDrinking Water Safety Plan Audit Coordinatoris responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of drinking water by facilitating the development and implementation of effective safety plans, conducting audits, and providing expert guidance on regulatory compliance.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Support the Drinking Drinking Water Safety Plan Audit Technical Lead and analysts in the development, review, and update of Uisce Éireann’s comprehensive Drinking Water Safety Plans in accordance with local, and national standards and guidelines.
* Support the Drinking Water Safety Planning and Audit Team in confirming levels of drinking water hygiene compliance and improvement.
* Support the Drinking Water Safety Planning and Audit Team in confirming risk levels and risk reduction.
* Prepare detailed audit reports for management and regulatory authorities, outlining findings, recommendations, performance indicators and corrective actions required to address any identified non-compliance.
* Utilise data management systems and software tools to ensure accurate and efficient storage, retrieval, and analysis of drinking water safety-related information.
* Interact frequently with key internal stakeholders to ensure cross functional understanding and alignment of key Compliance priorities.
* Contribute to achieving the objectives and targets of the Environmental Regulation Team Plan, and the Uisce Éireann Business Plan.
* Generate outputs in the form of Reports, Instructions, Templates, Standard Operating Procedures etc. in standardised and consistent formats that convey data and decisionsin a systematic manner.
* Ensure systems capture and align with emerging needs of the business and provideinformation and direction to stakeholders based on the generated outputs of the system.
* Provide information and data in a high quality format to other functions and departments
General Duties and Responsibilities
* Collaborate with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business
* Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.
* Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Relevantthird level qualification and or accreditation is desirable and or relevant experience
* A minimum of 1 years’ Experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable
* Ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally
* Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional standards and with proven ability to deliver results
* Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions
* Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements
* Excellent IT skills in particular Excel and Word
* Proven ability to work on own initiative and with others to promote the success in the performance of a team
* Proactively identifying new areas of learning and using newly gained knowledge and skills on the job
* Ability to analyse customer needs and provide support to resolve issues
* Track record of striving for quality and ensuring consistently high standards of work
* Track record of complying with safety objectives and policies and encouraging others to do the same
