We are seeking candidates for a new leadership role heading up the Core Technology team, part of a new R&D structure within this global medical device manufacturer. The specific focus of the team is on polymer materials & thermoplastics. The role reports to the VP of Global Research & Development.

The Manager (Technology Development) will lead the Core Technology Unit on foundational technologies that feed into new product development. This includes developing new technologies and bringing innovations through to market readiness. The role is a combination of hands on technical leadership across materials & polymer science and managing and developing the Core Technology team of six scientists, all based on site at the Co Mayo facility.
The role requires significant technical understanding and deep scientific knowledge across the area of polymers, thermoplastics, films, biomaterials, hydrophilic coatings and adhesives.
Your track record will include
Expertise in polymer materials within Industry, with a focus on thermoplastics
Experience working cross functionally with engineers, chemists, R&D and manufacturing teams
Knowledge of hydrophilic coatings.
Deep understanding of polymers, able to challenge and influence from a technical perspective
Credible scientific expertise combined with practical, applied experience
Experience of the Medical Device industry is naturally beneficial but it is not essential.
