Location:
The Brothers of Charity Services in South Connemara are a community based service. The vision of the service is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community. Our focus is to form a relationship / partnership with each individual and their family to support people to be valued citizens in their local community and to have ordinary life experiences. We wish to create opportunities for people supported by the service to have valued social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form real friendships.

The Role:
The Team Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the service and will provide leadership and supervision at a local level, ensuring the service delivered is person centred. It is the Team Leader's responsibility to ensure that the life of each person reflects the organisations' core values and the personal outcome measures.

The successful candidate for the role will initially be assigned to a residential service in the local community in the South Connemara region, however this work location is subject to change in accordance with service needs.

Service Coordinator/Area manager
Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
A recognised professional qualification as follows:
* A current live register with NMBI Nursing Qualification (RNID/RNMH) or eligible for registration on the Social Care Register at CORU on or before 30thNovember 2025. View approved qualifications on
* A management qualification is also desirable.
* The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years' experience of working with people with an intellectual disability. They will also have experience of behaviours that challenge and complex needs, goal setting and programme implementation.
* The successful candidate must have experience of managing and supervising a staff team and be up to date with current policy and legislation relevant to intellectual disability services.
* Proficiency in the Irish Language. However, if you are not proficient in the Irish language, the services will support you to develop your proficiency with Irish language classes.
* A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads and use of your own car is an essential requirement.
* Candidates must demonstrate leadership, management and planning skills as well as the ability to set goals, implement and review.
* Candidates must have the ability to exercise good judgement, discretion and confidentiality, to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms and co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy.
Working Hours:
Contracted hours will be based on a 7-day duty roster and will depend on the grade of the successful candidate i.e. 78 hours a fortnight (SC grade) 75 hours a fortnight (CNM1 grade). In addition a sleep-in and/or night duty commitment is a requirement of the post for which the appropriate allowance will be paid. An 'On Call' commitment will be required and flexibility around this will be expected in order to meet service needs.
The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
Annual Leave:
Leave will be granted according to the agreed leave assigned to the grade of the successful candidate i.e. CNM1 or Social Care Leader
Remuneration:
Based on the salary scale attached to the grade of the successful candidates i.e. CNM1 or Social Care Leader
Tenure:
This post is Permanent full-time and pensionable.
Probation:
A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer's discretion.
