About the Role
Staffline Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and clinically driven Structural Heart Nurse Specialist on behalf of a leading private acute healthcare provider in Dublin.
This senior specialist position offers an excellent opportunity for an accomplished cardiology nurse to take a central role within an established structural heart programme supporting patients undergoing complex cardiac interventions. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in coordinating patient care across multiple clinical departments while contributing to service development, education, and quality improvement initiatives.
This role is ideally suited to a nurse who combines strong clinical expertise with excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Coordinate the care pathway for patients undergoing structural heart and valvular heart procedures from referral through post-operative follow-up.
2. Act as the primary liaison between patients, families, referring clinicians and multidisciplinary teams.
3. Collaborate closely with interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, radiology departments, inpatient wards and outpatient services.
4. Lead and participate in patient, family and staff education initiatives.
5. Coordinate multidisciplinary team meetings, case discussions and programme education events.
6. Support patient safety monitoring, outcome tracking and clinical audit processes.
7. Assist with research activity relating to structural heart interventions.
8. Develop and maintain standardised patient care pathways across cardiology services.
9. Maintain accurate documentation relating to patient assessments and follow-up care.
10. Produce reports relating to referrals, waiting lists, clinical outcomes and service performance.
11. Support accreditation and quality assurance programmes.
Clinical and Professional Responsibilities
12. Maintain effective working relationships across clinical departments and external referral networks.
13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits and policy development.
14. Support evidence-based practice within the service.
15. Mentor junior staff members and students where appropriate.
16. Maintain ongoing professional development within cardiovascular nursing practice.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Qualifications
17. Registered General Nurse with active Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) registration and PIN number.
18. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
19. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Desirable
20. Postgraduate qualification in Cardiology or Cardiovascular Nursing, or willingness to undertake further study.
Experience Required
21. Minimum five years' experience in Cardiology or Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory nursing.
22. Demonstrated leadership or clinical specialist experience.
23. Advanced knowledge of cardiovascular disease management within an acute hospital setting.
24. Strong teaching ability and professional judgement.
25. Excellent organisational, multitasking and problem-solving skills.
26. Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
