Role Overview
Reporting to the Senior Executive Officer Carrigaline Municipal District, the General Manager will lead, co‑coordinate and manage the development and operation of Camden Fort Meagher. The role requires a talented, creative and highly strategic thinker to lead and manage a varied team in the promotion and continued development of Camden Fort Meagher as an internationally significant multi‑use location. He/she will also develop its integration with the broader socio‑economic offering of Cork Harbour and environs with key links to the local community in Crosshaven, Cobh, Cork City and other local attractions. The objective is to unlock the story and potential unique to Cork that will enable Camden Fort Meagher to maintain and build on its global tourism brand. The General Manager is required to collaborate and coordinate its activities with other Council‑owned and supported attractions in Cork Harbour.
The General Manager will need to be capable of considering all aspects of this exciting Camden Fort Meagher project including identification of key partners, development of critical working relationships and setting, navigating and achieving complex organisational goals. You will be expected to have the project management, marketing and communication skills and the necessary experience required to achieve ambitious business targets in the tourism sector set by Cork County Council and have the ability to lead a varied team in brand development and implementation of global marketing and PR campaigns, all the while building key customer relationships.

Duties
Co‑coordinate and manage the development and operation of Camden Fort Meagher, including implementation of the delivery of the tourism targets necessary for the success of Camden Fort Meagher.
Establish the optimum level and mix of staff resources for the operation of the attraction as it develops.
Clarify timeframes for key actions and targets to be delivered with the Senior Executive Officer Carrigaline MD and collaborate with the key stakeholders to achieve the agreed goals.
Manage safety in the complex both for staff and visitors.
Prepare, and monitor capital and revenue budgets for the development and operation of the facility.
Measure, monitor and report on progress of the branding and marketing plan when it is developed both at the level of each individual action and at the strategic level of the key major goals.
Lead the development and implementation of proactive communications, international marketing and PR strategy across a wide customer base in order to promote Camden Fort Meagher and develop a successful brand.
Liaise with adjoining Harbour Towns and tourism offerings and events locally, as needs require, to progress mutually beneficial collaborative actions in the tourism sector in particular.
Develop a collaborative working relationship with the management of other Cork County Council owned attractions to maximise the offering to the harbour visitor.
Prepare and support bids for competitive funding when the opportunity arises to benefit the project and regional projects as necessary.
Liaise with government departments and agencies to develop proposals and source funding through various national funding streams for the future development of Camden Fort Meagher and to meet conservation requirements.
Initially the manager will oversee a staff complement for administration, tours and ground‑keeping consisting of 15 staff (full and part time) including an Assistant Manager.
Any other duties that may be assigned.
