Staff Nurse Occupational Health, HSE Dublin and South East
Location: Near University Hospital Waterford.
Role/Grade: Staff Nurse in Occupational Health, HSE
Role Type: Specified purpose post to cover maternity leave.
Duration: Immediate start until 1st March 2026.
Hours: Full-time hours (37.5), consisting of four 8-hour shifts and one 5.5-hour shift. Hours/shifts are subject to negotiation with the local service manager.
Qualifications / Experience:
1. Be registered in the general division of the live Register of Nurses maintained by Nursing & Midwifery Board Ireland.
2. Possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of clinical and administrative capacity, for the proper discharge of duties.
3. Hold certification of an approved Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Course within the last two years (e.g., Irish Heart Foundation).
4. Evidence of Initial National Anaphylaxis Education Programme for Healthcare Professionals accessible on www.HSELanD.ie, followed by a two-hour classroom skills workshop. Recertification is required every two years by completing the online National Anaphylaxis Education Programme.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a busy Occupational Health department.
6. Good IT and administrative skills.
7. Phlebotomy and vaccination administration competency essential.
8. Basic knowledge of health screening, surveillance, and pre-employment medicals (desirable).
9. Manage Occupational Health records in accordance with GDPR.
10. Practice in line with the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics for Registered Nurses 2025, NMBI.
Reporting Relationships:
The Staff Nurse reports administratively and professionally to the Senior Nurse and the Director of Nursing Occupational Health. Clinical reporting is to the Occupational Health Physician.
