Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon Special Interest in Spinal Surgery Dublin, Ireland We are looking for a Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon with Special Interest in Spinal Surgery to join the Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma at Children's Health Ireland (CHI) in the new integrated children's hospital.
Role Overview As a core member of the CHI Orthopaedic team, you will help develop and deliver a national-level paediatric spinal service providing high quality surgical care to children and adolescents with complex orthopaedic spinal pathology.
Key Responsibilities Clinical & Surgical Leadership Provide expert clinical and surgical care in paediatric orthopaedics with a spinal subspecialty focus.
Conduct ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and orthopaedic/spinal procedures with excellence and compassion.
Participate in the on-call and emergency services rotas for paediatric trauma and spinal surgery.
Provide leadership in pre-operative assessment, operative planning and postoperative care for complex spinal cases.
Multidisciplinary Care & Collaboration Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including paediatric surgeons, neurosurgeons, anaesthetists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and nursing staff.
Liaise with clinical directors and allied professionals across CHI sites to coordinate care and referral pathways.
Service Development & Governance Support the development of referral pathways, clinical governance frameworks, and service coordination strategies.
Engage in peer reviews, guideline development, audit and quality improvement activities.
Teaching, Training & Research Supervise, mentor and train non-consultant hospital doctors (NCHDs), surgical trainees and allied health professionals.
Contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical and nursing staff.
Participate in audit, research and continuous professional development activities.
