Children's Quality, Fit, Product and Assurance Manager
Dunnes Stores, Ireland’s leading retailer in food, fashion, and home retailing, is seeking a passionate and experienced Children's Quality, Fit, Product and Assurance Manager to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety across all product categories.
The Role:
Reporting to the Quality, Product and Assurance Manager and working with the Head of Childrenswear, you will oversee technical functions including fit, quality, safety compliance, and testing of children’s products such as clothing, toys, accessories, and footwear. Your responsibilities include implementing quality control processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with suppliers and internal teams for continuous improvement. A strong background in garment manufacturing, children’s safety compliance, and quality assurance is essential.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the garment tech function, lead a team, and collaborate with design, buying, and supplier production teams to ensure smooth product lifecycle management within deadlines.
2. Establish standardised processes for key product lines, including grading, spec creation, and sampling, to ensure accurate sizing and innovation.
3. Ensure final products meet quality, safety, and fit standards through testing, labelling, and quality control processes.
4. Define strategic direction for the garment tech function to streamline processes, improve quality, and reduce risks.
5. Assess customer returns, investigate high-return styles, and implement solutions to minimize costs.
6. Support and educate suppliers to maintain consistent quality and fit globally.
7. Analyze lab test reports, provide solutions, and make commercial decisions to ensure product fitness for purpose.
8. Conduct risk assessments on products to identify and address potential issues.
9. Lead investigations into quality and safety issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
10. Collaborate with product development teams to integrate quality and safety into design and development.
11. Engage with suppliers at senior levels to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
12. Maintain safety and quality standards aligned with industry benchmarks.
13. Monitor customer returns and improve product performance, quality, and safety.
14. Manage ongoing quality inspections in stores and warehouses.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Qualification in Textiles Technology, Apparel & Quality Management, or similar.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in children’s clothing, including garment fitting, production, inspection, and quality control (knits/woven).
* Expertise in children’s product safety regulations across garment design, construction, and production.
* Self-motivated, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines under pressure.
* Excellent communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
* Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
* Proficient in building technical specification files from design sketches.
* Strong knowledge of textile production, materials, and quality control methods.
