Role Overview
Pay rate will be subject to qualifications
The Tailoring Specialist is the bridge between the technical craft of garment construction and the art of personalised retail. You will be the resident expert on fit, fabric, and silhouette, guiding customers through their purchase while ensuring every garment is customised to their unique proportions. This is a high-visibility role that requires a blend of technical sewing skills, a keen eye for style, and a passion for providing world-class customer service.
Core Responsibilities
* Consultation & Sales: Act as the primary point of contact for customers seeking tailored items. Recommend styles, fabrics, and fits that align with the customer's needs and body type.
* Fitting & Pinning: Conduct professional fittings for men's and/or women's apparel. Accurately mark and pin garments for alterations, including hems, sleeves, tapering, and structural adjustments.
* Technical Execution: Perform high-quality alterations and repairs on-site. This includes machine and hand-stitching, finishing, and pressing garments to brand standards.
* Quality Control: Inspect finished garments to ensure they meet the specific measurements requested and maintain the structural integrity of the design.
* Shop Support: Assist with general retail operations, offering 5 star service to all our customers, visual merchandising, inventory management of tailoring supplies, and maintaining a clean, organised atelier/workspace.
Qualifications & Skills
* Technical Mastery: Proven experience in garment tailoring and industrial sewing machine operation.
* The "Tailor's Eye": An intuitive understanding of drape, proportion, and how different fabrics behave.
* Communication: Ability to explain complex technical adjustments to customers in a clear, confident, and approachable manner.
* Attention to Detail: Meticulous precision in both measuring and sewing to ensure a "right-first-time" fit.
* Retail Savvy: Comfortable working in a fast-paced sales environment and hitting service goals.
