Job Title
Administrator
Purpose
To provide clerical and administrative service to the department, ensuring all patients, staff, and visitors are handled efficiently, effectively, and promptly.
Responsibilities
Provide administrative support for the department
Cross‑cover and support the local administration department
Greet and communicate appropriately with visitors, patients, consultants and staff
Process paperwork and explain the admission process to patients on arrival
Secure payment from all underinsured/self‑insured patients and liaison with insurance companies to confirm cover, completing insurance claim forms
Post charges to patients' accounts for discharge and assist with cash handling and safe lodgement of payments
Liaise with other departments and consultants to arrange medical appointments as needed
Escort patients to other areas of the hospital as requested
Assist patients and visitors, providing liaison with hospital and clinic staff
Balance cash sheets, check float and transfer information to finance
Scan patient records, deal with telephone queries and organise stationery for the department
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and IT skills, and uphold strict confidentiality
Contribute to meetings, provide constructive advice and report incidents promptly
Support the clinic’s philosophy, objectives and goals; observe lines of authority and maintain professional appearance
Assist in all areas of the hospital/clinic as required and participate in developing quality care
Continuously develop personal knowledge and skills through external educational opportunities
