Responsibilities
1. Supporting the Audit & Assurance team on external audit engagements by:
2. Managing & delivering actuarial specialist work on the audits of financial statements and SFCRs;
3. Designing, developing and implementing solutions (processes and tools) to deliver efficient audits;
4. Communicating effectively with stakeholders - clients, audit partner, audit team, actuarial director.
5. Liaising with Mazars technical experts in Ireland and globally as required to deliver smooth and efficient audits and client experiences.
Supporting the Actuarial team on actuarial consulting / advisory projects for clients on a broad range of topics including:
1. Actuarial Peer Review & Reviewing Actuary engagements;
2. Outsourced Actuarial Function and Internal Audit programs;
3. Implementation of regulatory change projects - IFRS17;
4. Portfolio Transfer / Independent Actuary engagements;
5. Actuarial Modelling projects;
6. Risk Management - ORSA & Risk reviews, ERM engagements;
7. Capital Management projects;
8. Mergers & Acquisitions activity;
Business Development activity including:
1. Development of relationships;
2. Be a subject matter expert on topics; writing articles and presenting at conferences on these topics;
3. Preparation of new business proposals and responses to RFPs; and
4. Participation in pitches with prospective clients;
Ideal Candidate
To be considered for this position you must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a qualified actuary with 8-10 years of work experience, with at least 2 yrs pqe;
2. Experience in at least one of: The audit of life (re)insurance entities; The delivery of life actuarial consultancy services; A financial reporting or Solvency II role within a life insurance entity; IFRS17 implementation;
3. Be a strong technical actuary with experience of a variety of products types and expertise in stochastic modelling techniques; experience with Variable Annuity products would be an advantage.
4. Be knowledgeable on the life insurance industry in Ireland/Europe and the main issues facing companies in the sector;
5. Be a self-starter who can work independently as well as within a team;
6. Enjoy learning and taking on new challenges; and
7. Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
