Head of Software Engineering
to lead this transformation.
This senior leadership position offers full responsibility for the firm's engineering function and a clearly defined succession path to CTO.
The Role
As Head of Software Engineering, you will lead and develop a highly skilled team of 12 engineers, guiding the evolution of mission-critical systems that underpin the firm's investment platforms. You will set the strategic direction for engineering while remaining close to the technology, providing architectural leadership and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Working in partnership with the CTO and executive leadership team, you will align engineering delivery with business strategy, ensuring technology continues to drive competitive advantage and sustainable growth.
This role requires a leader with
technical credibility, strategic vision, and the personal presence to inspire and influence at all levels of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and own the firm's end-to-end software development strategy, roadmap, and delivery.
* Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering team, promoting innovation and accountability.
* Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices (Agile, CI/CD, DevOps, cloud-native architectures).
* Provide hands-on enterprise architecture expertise to guide technical design and delivery.
* Collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure technology investment aligns with business priorities.
* Contribute to strategic decision-making at board level, positioning yourself as a successor to the CTO.
Candidate Profile
* Proven experience leading small-to-medium software development teams (10–15 engineers) in
financial services, asset management, or similarly complex and regulated environments
.
* Deep technical expertise and the ability to engage credibly with senior engineers and architects.
* Strong track record designing and delivering enterprise-grade, cloud-native, high-availability platforms.
* Experienced in shaping engineering strategy, governance, budgets, and operating models.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills at executive level.
* Energetic, charismatic leadership style with the ability to build trust and inspire high performances
* Remuneration & Benefits
* Base salary: €140,000 – €170,000 (DOE)
* 20% annual performance bonus
* 5% pension contribution
