Early Childhood Educator Role
* To deliver high-quality early childhood education and care to children.
* To guide, monitor, stimulate and supervise children in a safe and nurturing environment.
* To collaborate closely with the Service Manager and other team members.
* To act as a key worker to specified children if required.
* To ensure the safety, security and wellbeing of all children in your care.
* To assist in planning and implementing an age-appropriate program of activities that enhances the child's natural growth and development.
* To maintain all quality and safety standards at all times.
* Care and Well-Being
* To be kind and attentive to the children in your care.
* To address issues as they arise related to the well-being of children.
* To communicate effectively with children at their level.
* To use positive strategies to support children through challenging behavior.
* To carry out planned and unplanned observations using the observation system and materials.
Curriculum/Activities
* To participate and assist in the planning and implementation of the set curriculum.
* To support children's emerging interests.
* To introduce children to play equipment based on their individual needs.
* To provide opportunities for self-directed play.
Health and Safety
* To report any safety hazards/risks to Management immediately.
* To refrain from engaging in any activity that poses a risk to you, other members of staff or children.
* To have a good knowledge of fire and safety procedures within the service.
* To maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment.
* To participate in cleaning duties as required.
Record Keeping and Administration
* To maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documents in compliance with relevant regulations. Records may include the child's progress, observations, accidents records, medicine records etc.
Teamwork and Communication
* To work collaboratively with the Service Manager and other staff members.
* To respect the rights of children in your care.
* To foster good working relationships within the team.
* To greet parents and children in a friendly, positive and courteous manner.
* To present a neat and tidy appearance.
Training and Development
* To undertake first aid training, fire safety and manual handling, as required.
* To attend and participate at meetings, as required.
This role description may be reviewed, updated and/or amended from time to time in line with the needs of the service and as required by the Manager.
The successful candidate must have minimum QQI Level 6 qualification, with QQI Level 7/8 desired.
