Overview
It is desirable that candidates demonstrate through their application form and at the interview that he/she:
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent team leadership skills
* Ability to work independently or within multi-disciplined teams
* Planning and organisational skills
* A good understanding of safety management in the workplace including Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
* Reached a good standard of general education as will enable him/her to perform satisfactorily the duties of the post;
* Knowledge and experience of landscaping and arboriculture practices involved in the construction and management of parks and open spaces.
* Knowledge and experience of the construction, maintenance & management of playgrounds, outdoor gyms and skateparks.
* Experience of technical drawings, with the ability to translate working drawings into hard and soft landscaping works in public realm context.
* Experience in the use of building materials and construction methods/works associated with public realm.
Application stage requirements
Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms:
* Have a standard of education such as will enable the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position
* Have at satisfactory experience in a supervisory role.
* Have at least 5 years horticulture/amenity horticulture experience
* Have experience in planning, planting and maintaining green spaces and/or have a demonstrable aptitude for this type of work.
* Have experience in the care and use of tools, machines and appliances used in the maintenance of parks, gardens and open spaces.
* Have good technical knowledge and be capable of working on their own initiative.
* Have experience of light construction works.
* It is required that Candidates be computer literate with a working knowledge of email, word, excel etc.
* Be capable of writing clear and concise reports and keeping works records
* Be capable of reading drawings and having satisfactory knowledge of surveying and setting out of works.
* Be capable of organising work schedules and motivating staff in completing works efficiently and effectively.
* Have experience in dealing with the public.
* Hold a current Safe Pass Registration Card.
* Have satisfactory knowledge of the requirements of health and safety legislation and the ability to properly complete safe systems of work plans.
Additional requirements
Applicants should at the date of applying hold a full valid Irish /EU licence, for Class B vehicles
