Overview
An expanding residential developer with a strong landbank and a healthy pipeline of projects is seeking a Bid Manager to join their team. This is a key role in the business, responsible for leading bids and tender submissions, shaping winning strategies, and ensuring commercial viability at the early stages of projects.
The successful candidate will bring structured bid management skills combined with commercial awareness (procurement, cost planning, and contracts). You will work closely with Directors, Design, Development, and Commercial teams to ensure bids are well-prepared, competitive, and aligned with both private and public sector opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Bid & Tender Management
* Lead preparation of high-quality bid submissions for residential projects.
* Coordinate bid strategies, writing, and presentation with input from technical and commercial teams.
* Manage bid schedules, deadlines, and deliverables.
* Oversee tender clarifications, responses, and post-tender negotiations.
Commercial & Procurement Input
* Assess tender documentation for risk, compliance, and commercial terms.
* Contribute to cost plans, budgets, and procurement strategies at pre-construction stage.
* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for pricing, technical compliance, and value engineering opportunities.
* Work alongside Commercial team to ensure bids are both competitive and financially robust.
Strategic & Business Development
* Support Directors with market intelligence, pipeline tracking, and upcoming bid opportunities.
* Contribute to joint venture and public sector tendering frameworks (e-Tenders, partnerships).
* Help refine bid processes, templates, and systems to raise quality and efficiency.
* Prepare and deliver presentations for internal reviews and client pitches.
Ideal Candidate
* 7–12 years' experience in bid management, proposals, or pre-construction roles, ideally within residential development, construction, or consultancy.
* Strong bid writing, coordination, and submission experience.
* Commercially sharp with knowledge of procurement, tendering, and contract frameworks (public and private sector).
* Exposure to residential or mixed-use development projects highly desirable.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work to deadlines under pressure while maintaining quality and detail.
