General Job Description The Head of Retail Development & Facilities is responsible for playing a key role in executing Corrib Oil's retail growth strategy.
This includes overseeing the development and refurbishment of existing sites, managing redevelopments of newly acquired sites and retail facilities.
The role demands a highly strategic approach to retail development, ensuring that all projects align with the company's long-term vision and operational goals.
Working closely with the senior retail team, group engineer and external partners, the Head of Retail Development & Facilities will play a key role in enhancing customer experience, driving revenue growth, and maintaining Corrib Oil's position as a leader in the industry.
General Requirements Report to the Managing Director of Retail Assist in the strategic development and enhancement of Corrib Oil's retail portfolio.
Collaborate with senior management and the group engineer to align retail development with overall company retail strategy.
Manage budgeting and financial planning for retail development projects.
Oversee and coordinate project management for store upgrades, new site openings, and central kitchen development.
Manage all phases of retail fit-out projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet quality standards, timelines, and budget constraints.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and operational standards.
Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, contractors, and external partners.
Analyse market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.
Produce monthly reports for the Senior Retail & Leadership Team on project progress, challenges, and key milestones.
Strong sense of personal accountability regarding deliverables.
Strong understanding of retail operations and processes.
Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality.
Able to apply analytical thinking and problem-solving skills - leading to effective team delivery.
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Teams, Planner, Excel, AI Tools) is preferred.
Must work collaboratively with the Retail Development Team at BWG/Spar Ireland Develop and implement a rolling programme for upgrading existing retail locations, ensuring the completion of a minimum of 4 site refurbishments per year.
Assess the retail layout of current sites and identify opportunities for improvements.
Manage store layout and design enhancements to optimise customer experience and operational efficiency.
Work closely with the retail sales & operations team and finance teams to ensure upgrade projects deliver strong ROI.
Oversee the selection and management of contractors and suppliers for refurbishment projects.
Implement sustainability initiatives in line with company environmental policies.
Ensure minimal disruption to business operations during upgrade projects.
New Site Takeovers & Full Developments Oversee the planning, design, and execution of the refurbishment of these newly acquired sites.
Oversee the planning, design, and execution of the development of new green/brown field sites.
Ensure seamless integration of new sites into Corrib Oil's retail network.
Implement best-in-class retail standards in new store developments.
Retail Facilities Management Lead the Retail Facilities Administrator in ensuring the maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of all retail sites.
Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance strategy to ensure all stores and facilities meet operational and safety standards.
Oversee routine and emergency maintenance, coordinating with internal teams and external contractors to minimize business disruption.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, maintaining best practices across all retail locations.
Manage vendor relationships, negotiating contracts with facilities service providers to ensure cost-effective solutions.
Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for facilities management, ensuring high standards of store upkeep.
Identify and implement sustainability initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
Maintain a proactive asset management strategy, tracking equipment lifecycles and planning timely upgrades or replacements to optimize operational efficiency.
