What is the role?

The person in this role is responsible for developing and testing new concepts in pulmonary drug delivery and requires technical competence in aerosol science, a solid understanding of inhalation drug delivery, and experience working within a regulated laboratory environment. The role will also support the execution of external collaborations by delivering high-quality experimental testing, data analysis, and scientific reporting in line with regulatory and partner requirements.

What are the key responsibilities?

* Aerosol Science & Inhalation Testing: Independently perform particle size characterisation (e.g. cascade impaction), delivered dose measurement, and output rate testing on a range of devices and formulations using established and novel protocols.
* Design Verification Testing: Execute aerosol performance testing for design changes and new product development.
* External Collaboration Support: Provide technical testing and device configuration support for external partners.
* Scientific Reporting & Risk Assessment: Draft and author comprehensive test reports, technical summaries, and formal risk assessments for chemicals and novel drug formulations.
* Stakeholder & Partner Engagement: Collaborate directly with external partners as well as internal stakeholders (Regulatory, Quality, Supply Chain, Legal) to ensure project execution.
* Lab Management & GLP Practices: Support the labs compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), including calibration, equipment maintenance, document control, and SOP authorship.
* Process & Documentation Improvements: Contribute to the development of lab documentation systems, drug safety workflows, and risk mitigation processes.
* Training & Mentorship: Assist in onboarding and mentoring junior scientists or interns in testing procedures, documentation, and safety protocols.
* Additional Duties: Other responsibilities may be assigned by your manager.

What Education and Experience are required?

* BSc in relevant discipline
* Minimum 3-5 years experience in pharmaceutical/medical device laboratory

What key skills will make you great at the role?

* Demonstrated expertise in aerosol characterisation methods (e.g. NGI, laser diffraction, output rate testing).
* Strong analytical background with knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical device regulations.
* Confident communicator, capable of presenting scientific results to internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to interpret complex data and contribute to problem-solving discussions with multidisciplinary teams.
* Knowledge of statistics hypothesis testing, design of experiments.
* Experience with GLP, ELN systems, and risk assessments is a distinct advantage.
* Team player with a collaborative & solution focused mindset and strong organisational skills
