The role fulfilled by DJF includes full Project Management and Engineering of all project stages, including Concept/Feasibility, Local Authority Approvals, Detailed Design, Contractor Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Handover.
Role Description
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our Team.
The candidate will benefit from excellent mentoring and support from our Team to deliver projects throughout the industry, across all stages of project execution including Health & Safety, Design Team Coordination, Revit, Detailed Design, Local Authority Approvals, Meetings, Construction Stage Support, and project handover.

Role and Responsibilities
Lead Structural Engineer
Reporting to DJF Directors
Lead and co-ordinate DJF Team Design activities, in collaboration and co-ordination with other Design Team members, Clients, Contractors and other stakeholders.
Reviewing and checking Designs and Calculations.
Mentoring and guidance to junior engineers.
Structural Design, calculations, Reports.
Review of DJF tender & construction packages to maintain high quality standards.
Detailed co-ordination of Design Packages, to include BIM / Revit reviews.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Minimum Level 8 Degree in Structural Engineering.
Minimum 10 years relevant experience of Structural Design.
Minimum 5 years experience of taking a lead design role on projects.
Chartered Engineer status ( CEng with Engineers Ireland, MIStructE, or equivalent)
Relevant experience ideally includes
Designing building structures using structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, proprietary roofing and cladding products, composite floors.
Designing alterations and modifications to building structures.
Designing foundations, pile caps, retaining structures.
Specifying and reviewing site investigations.
Preparing sketches to illustrate designs.
Writing technical reports.l
Reviewing and checking completeness and accuracy of tender and construction drawings.
Inspecting construction works and preparing site reports.
Coordinating designs with other disciplines.
The candidate should also ideally:
Be aware of a Designer’s responsibilities under the Health & Safety Regulations
Be familiar with the requirements and implementation of the Irish Building Regulations.
Have an understanding of project stages, team roles, standard industry practices and procedures.
Possess an ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment and communicate clearly with other team members.
Be self‑motivated and an ability to produce accurate work to strict project deadlines.
Be able to plan, organise and implement concurrent tasks and projects.
Be able to perform work in compliance with our Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015).
Be a flexible and enthusiastic team player with an attention to detail and accuracy
The following experience / skills would be an advantage, but are not necessarily essential
Experience of projects in the life sciences / pharmaceutical sector
