AWS Aurora/RDS is one of the fastest-growing AWS businesses, providing super-simple provisioning and management for relational databases in the cloud. Customers can set up a new database with just a few clicks, and complex administrative tasks like scaling, fail-over, and monitoring are all handled in an automated fashion by our control systems.
Aurora and RDS Console is a part of AWS Utility Computing (UC) which provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Responsibilities
* Lead the technical efforts of the RDS Console team in Dublin, mentor and help shape the technical expertise of colleagues, and design, develop and deploy quality solutions that help external and internal customers interface with the RDS service at scale.
* Support a strong work-life balance with core in-office hours from 10am to 4pm in Dublin, while providing flexibility for structuring working hours around them.
* Mentoring, technical leadership, hands-on development, and on-call responsibilities typically once every 4 to 5 weeks, with a focus on minimizing on-call disruption and improving the operational posture of the solutions we own.

You would work on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Developer Tools org where we are going to use generative AI and foundation models to re-imagine the experience of all builders on AWS. From the IDE to web based tools and services AI will help engineers to work on large and small applications. In this team we have to explore new technologies and find creative solutions. Curiosity and an explorative mindset can find a place to impact the life of engineers around the world.

About the team
The RDS Console team owns the console end-to-end and supports all service teams within RDS and Aurora, including:
* Aurora MySQL and Aurora PostgreSQL
* Open-Source solutions like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB
* Commercial engines like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and IBM
At any given point in time, the RDS Console team is supporting features of various sizes in different stages of their lifecycle, such as requirements/UX design, development, testing, and launch.
Basic Qualifications
* Experience with common front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS, TypeScript, and Node
* Experience building web applications with React and modern web technologies
* Experience with AWS or cloud technologies
* Experience mentoring or training the engineering community on complex technical issues
* Strong knowledge of state management patterns, RESTful APIs, and modern build tools (Webpack, Vite, or similar) is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of relations databases (MySQL) and SQL querying tools
