Job Description
The Associate Director - Project Management & Continuous Improvement (PM/CI) plays a critical role in supporting the Global Supply Chain (GSC) group. This individual is responsible for creating a culture of continuous improvement and project management within GSC.
Key Responsibilities:
1. CI and PM Framework:
1. Enhance foundations to support a repeatable approach to PM and CI initiatives, including CI training, tools, and templates.
2. Develop a CI service level offering from tools to templates to fully manage CI.
3. Create an integrated GSC Excellence and Strategy (E&S) framework for PM and CI activities.
4. Establish an integrated GSC E&S monthly business review framework.
5. Evaluate current state maturity and establish benchmarks to advance service maturity.
2. CI and PM Activities:
1. Apply a structured methodology to create a strategy for implementing and adopting changes.
2. Engage with internal customers to solve complex problems and improve performance.
3. Analyze and diagnose opportunities for improvement and make recommendations to leadership.
4. Design and facilitate workshops and Kaizen events.
5. C Coordinate idea generation, project identification, prioritization, and selection.
6. Support cross-functional teams in delivering CI projects.
7. Identify and justify project benefits and financial savings.
8. Sponsor and drive achievement of own projects and those they support.
9. Train employees on CI principles and methodologies.
10. C Coach and mentor Project Sponsors, Black Belts/Green Belts candidates on tool usage and deployment issues.
11. Foster a CI culture by empowering employees to identify opportunities to apply techniques and tools.
12. Share best practices and project successes across the organization.
13. Support change management, communication, and training efforts.
14. Develop and utilize a best practice PM and CI framework.
15. Identify, analyze, and prepare risk mitigation tactics.
16. Ensure PM plans are supported by OCM plans.
17. Track and report issues.
18. Evaluate user readiness and measure the impact of change management strategies.
3. Business Partnering:
1. Collaborate with subject matter experts across PDM, GSC, Finance, and Commercial.
2. Partner with other GSC E&S pillars: Processes, Global Trade Compliance, Training, Resilience, OCM, and Data and Analytics to identify dependencies.
3. Develop a deep understanding of organizational operations and workflows.
4. Regularly engage with customers to understand pain points and priorities.
5. Support cross-functional business process governance reviews.
4. Future of CI and PM as a Service Provided:
1. Develop a vision aligned with GSC, PDM, and Gilead's mission.
2. Implement a roadmap to evolve the CI and PM service using benchmarking, maturity assessments, and action plans.
3. Collaborate across Gilead PM and CI teams to share learnings and best practices.
5. Measures of Success:
1. Establish a monthly business review process to identify success factor KPIs for CI and PM services.
2. Identify areas of opportunity and improve the CI and PM framework/service offering.
6. Change Management:
1. Facilitate communications and change management for key programs and projects.
Required Experience and Competencies:
* Relevant experience in a related field and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
* Experience in pharmaceutical operations/cGMP environment highly desirable.
* May require experience purchasing custom chemicals, planning pharmaceutical development activities, and managing third-party synthesis of intermediates/Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient and supply chain experience.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to understand the 'big picture.'
* Leads and project manages projects independently.
* Comfortable presenting recommendations to diverse stakeholders.
* Solid understanding of current industry trends.
* Leadership qualities: collaboration, accountability, cross-functional engagement, influence, strategic vision, and coaching.

Qualifications:
* Project Management and Lean Six Sigma qualifications (e.g., PMI/PRINCE 2/Green or Black belt).
* Bachelor's degree in Business/CM/Engineering discipline required.
* Master's degree and/or professional qualifications in supply chain management a plus.
* Change management qualification (e.g., PROSCI or other recognized CM qualification) a plus.
