About the Hospital
The Mater Misericordae University Hospital (MMUH) is a model 4 teaching hospital committed to providing the highest quality service to all patients with compassion and professionalism.
We work closely with our academic partners to deliver cutting‑edge research that has a direct impact on patient care and also supports clinical education at an undergraduate and postgraduate level.
In April 2021 the Mater hospital was designated Major Trauma Centre for the Central Trauma Network.
Outpatient Physiotherapy Service
Outpatient physiotherapy is based at the main MMUH campus and at the Smithfield Minor Injuries unit, and the post‑holder may be required to work across both sites.
The service provides treatment for a wide range of orthopaedic, musculoskeletal and rheumatological conditions referred from hospital consultants (Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Fracture, Plastics, Emergency Department, Smithfield Minor Injuries Unit, Pain, Occupational Health, MSK triage service and other specialities).
Patients with acute trauma including fractures, as well as patients with long‑standing, recurrent conditions, are commonly seen.
Specialities
Specialities in the musculoskeletal senior role may include pain, hydrotherapy, fracture clinic, orthopaedics, emergency department and practice tutor role.
