Product Security Software Engineer

This role is based in Galway, Ireland and is full-time and regular.
About the Role
As a Product Security Software Engineer you will own projects end-to-end on our product-security platform.
You will translate requirements into well-designed implementations, manage the work from design through to production delivery, and contribute to the health of the codebase and the team.
The position requires solid hands-on experience in Golang and modern JavaScript/TypeScript, the ability to break down moderately complex problems, and initiative to resolve blockers independently.
What You Will Do
Own projects end-to-end within our internal system portfolio: requirements, design, implementation, testing, and production delivery.
Break down project work into subtasks, prioritize effectively, and execute with limited day-to-day direction.
Design and implement backend services in Golang and frontend components in JavaScript for a SPA architecture.
Build and maintain integrations with internal systems and third-party APIs, handling data ingestion, normalization, and synchronization workflows.
Contribute to reliability, performance, and maintainability as adoption grows.
Write clean, well-tested code and actively participate in pull-request reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
Work directly with product, security, and platform stakeholders to establish requirements, surface tradeoffs, and align on scope.
Mentor junior engineers and serve as a subject-matter expert on your areas of the codebase.
Proactively identify and drive improvements—refactors, clean-ups, reliability enhancements, CI/CD or observability upgrades.
Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate development while maintaining high standards.
Raise issues and risks to management early and operate independently.
What You Need to Succeed
Track record of owning end-to-end projects and shipping reliably without close supervision.
Hands-on experience in Golang and modern JavaScript/TypeScript with clean service-boundary design.
Comfort with Jira for task breakdown, progress tracking, and backlog management.
Experience building and maintaining API integrations across internal and external systems.
Working knowledge of AWS production environments and core services (Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM).
Understanding of code execution in production is required.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code concepts (Terraform or similar) to read and make targeted changes.
Strong communication skills to keep stakeholders informed and surface blockers early.
A sense of ownership and bias toward improving products beyond simply completing tickets.
What Helps You Stand Out
Experience with CMDB-like systems, asset inventory platforms, or internal developer tooling.
Familiarity with security ecosystems, system inventory, or exposure/secrets-related data domains.
Experience in compliance or security-focused environments where correctness and auditability matter.
Demonstrated effective use of AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and improve quality.
Experience on systems that serve as a single source of truth for multiple teams, with an appreciation for reliability and data quality.
History of mentoring junior engineers or leading sub-teams within a larger project.
