Optimize Manufacturing Process Engineer
To assist the Engineering/Production department in improving the manufacturing process of products and developing the most optimum moulding process and tooling that meets or exceeds customer requirements on both new and existing tooling.
The ideal candidate will provide technical resources to ensure current and future projects are run in accordance with customer specifications and in-house standards, guaranteeing efficiency and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
* Responsible for introducing all new products into production and compiling standard specifications for each process and monitoring all existing production to standard specifications.
* Ensures process optimization using statistical techniques and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce waste.
* Works closely with Production Group leaders in troubleshooting processing problems and implementing solutions.
* Establishes relationships with customers and Equipment/Raw Material suppliers for continuous improvement and business development.
* Solves customer-related problems/issues in conjunction with the Quality department as needed, ensuring customer satisfaction.
* Instructs others regarding manufacturing-related skills or knowledge and assists in training employees on new processes or systems introduced to the company.
* Coordinates the development of documentation in the Production and Technical areas in line with ISO9001:2000 and ISO 13485 requirements.
* Communicates regularly with external suppliers of materials and equipment and provides feedback on issues to the management team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* National Diploma in Plastics Engineering (or a Degree in Engineering) and at least 4-5 years' experience in the injection moulding industry.
* Strong knowledge of injection mould tooling and design, with the ability to create and implement efficient designs.
* Good understanding of injection moulding, processing, ancillary equipment, and automation systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
* Experience working in Medical, Packaging, or technological industries is preferable, with knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
* Familiarity with real-time monitoring systems is an asset, allowing for timely intervention and decision-making.
* Strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of experiments (DOE), with the ability to apply these principles to optimize processes.
* Principles of WCM, JIT, SMED, and Kaizen are essential, with the ability to implement lean manufacturing practices.
* Proficiency in computer systems, integrated manufacturing systems, word processing, and spreadsheets, with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
