We are seeking a highly motivated Ecologist/Ornithologist to join our dynamic environmental consultancy team at Access Talent Group.
The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting ornithological and ecological surveys, reporting on environmental impacts, and providing expert advice to clients in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and conservation. Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional services that promote sustainability and protect the environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct field surveys including bird surveys (breeding bird surveys, wintering bird surveys, vantage point surveys) and general ecological surveys to assess environmental conditions.
* Prepare high-quality reports, including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Appropriate Assessments (AA), and Habitat Management Plans to inform decision-making.
* Provide ecological expertise in planning applications, conservation projects, and biodiversity action plans to ensure effective implementation of environmentally friendly solutions.
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, liaising with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
* Evaluate and ensure compliance with Irish and EU wildlife and environmental legislation to safeguard the environment.
* Contribute to research and monitoring projects to enhance biodiversity conservation, preserving ecosystems for future generations.
* Analyse and manage ecological data using GIS and statistical software to identify trends and make informed decisions.
Minimum Requirements:
* Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Zoology, or a related field to provide a strong foundation for this role.
* At least 2 years of experience in ornithological/ecological surveying and assessment to possess relevant skills and knowledge.
* Strong understanding of Irish and EU wildlife legislation and ecological best practices to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
* Proficiency in bird identification by sight and sound across different seasons to accurately assess bird populations.
* Experience in report writing, impact assessments, and environmental planning to effectively communicate results and recommendations.
* Competency in GIS and data analysis tools to manage and interpret complex ecological data.
* Fully qualified driver with a willingness to travel for fieldwork to access diverse environments and conduct surveys.
