Job Title: Sr Network Development Engineer III

* The primary focus of this role is to design, build, and maintain a high-quality network that meets the company's high standards for scale, reliability, performance, and maintainability.
* This involves leading network projects in areas such as network engineering, deployment/implementation, scaling, technology refresh, best practices application, and/or network optimization.
* A Sr Network Development Engineer will be responsible for sustaining the next-generation networks by providing critical network support to diagnose, mitigate impact, and resolve large-scale networking events.
* Responsibilities also include operating and troubleshooting network routing, interconnectivity, platforms, performance, and configurations issues; including necessary low-level application interaction, Unix systems, and new-age networking software tools.
* Another key responsibility is driving and supporting innovation from top-of-rack to the network border and everything in between.
* This role works closely with Network/Systems/Software Engineering teams to ensure fast, smooth rollout of new designs and products, as well as assists with deployment and sustaining of networking software tools.
* Maintaining standards across the networking toolset and ensuring compliance with those standards and policies is also a crucial aspect of this role.
* A Sr Network Development Engineer delivers simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes.
* Collaboration with highest-tier escalation engineers/resolvers is also required.
* This role also involves creating and reviewing documentation and process regarding network implementation/deployments, recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etc.

About the Role:

* As a Sr Network Development Engineer, you will own the architecture to create a highly scalable and reliable global network.
* You will work closely with our product team to help define the customer experience of Direct Connect and other AWS network-related products.
* Additionally, you will influence AWS network infrastructure organizations to ensure the network fabric supports Direct Connect's requirements.
* On a given day, our engineers may be defining routing policies in support of a new feature, testing changes before we release them to production, diving deep to understand an issue in our network, proposing new ideas to make our network more reliable or easier to manage, or working with leadership to create the vision for our service.
