About the job:As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead and deliver complex mechanical design projects across the Energy and Industrial sectors throughout the EMEA region. This role covers the full project lifecycle, from concept design through to client handover, with a strong focus on regulated, high-specification environments such as manufacturing, life sciences, and industrial facilities. You will also play a key role in mentoring engineers and maintaining strong client relationships.Experience & QualificationsHonours Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline7+ years' experience delivering projects within Industrial, Manufacturing, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices, Healthcare, or Commercial sectorsChartered Engineer status is an advantage but not essentialMust be based in IrelandKey ResponsibilitiesLead mechanical services design for Energy and Industrial projects from concept through detailed design and construction supportDeliver projects across sectors including manufacturing, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, medical devices, life sciences, laboratories, and industrial facilitiesDesign and specify mechanical building services systems suitable for ATEX environments, cleanrooms, laboratories, and process-led facilitiesUndertake mechanical design for HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, utilities, and specialist systems including gas detectionEnsure designs comply with CIBSE, ASHRAE, BS, IS, and EN standards, as well as relevant safety and regulatory requirementsCarry out continuous design reviews and installation quality checks to ensure compliance and constructabilityPrepare detailed tender documentation, reports, technical analysis, and recommendationsCollaborate closely with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary design teams to define project scopes and technical solutionsTake technical ownership of projects, operating with minimal management inputMentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, reviewing outputs to ensure QA standards are met prior to issueTechnical SkillsStrong mechanical design experience within industrial and process-driven environmentsProven knowledge of mechanical systems for regulated sectors, including laboratories, pharmaceutical, and food production facilitiesWorking knowledge of ATEX directives and design considerations for hazardous environmentsProficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft OfficeExperience with mechanical analysis or simulation software is an advantageSolid understanding of quality assurance processes and technical documentationSoft Skills & Team FitConfident, professional communicator with strong client-facing skillsProven ability to lead projects and coordinate engineering teamsHighly organised with excellent time management skillsCollaborative mindset with a proactive and inquisitive approachKeen interest in emerging technologies and best practice within the Energy and Industrial sectorsWhy Join us?At Ethos, we're dedicated to fostering an environment that encourages bothtechnical excellence and personal wellbeing.
