Design Engineer – REF: 2608b
We are looking to recruit a Process Design Engineer to join our Water design team. The successful candidate will join a growing team with senior support and will have the opportunity as their career progresses to acquire a broad range of skills and experience in design and project management.
Responsibilities
Work within a design team including Mechanical, Civil, E&I, CP and drafting team members
Design from conceptual phase through to project completion
Development of Preliminary and Detailed Design reports, calculations and drawings
Producing design drawings, mechanical plant selection and technical specifications
Producing plant layouts (2D & 3D), technical specifications, Wimes datasheets, equipment schedules and P&IDs
Preparing design of mechanical installations typically including municipal water and wastewater pumping stations and treatment plants.
Producing hydraulic calculations for gravity and pumped systems including pumping system analysis / pump selection.
Ensuring all designs are completed in accordance with the relevant standards and specifications
Ensuring all designs comply with all applicable Health and Safety standards and regulations
Attending progress meetings with our Water design team, clients, contractors & suppliers
Undertaking site visits to carry out site surveys and the support of liaisons with clients, contractors & suppliers
Location
Primary location: Kilkenny office. Applications for Birmingham office will also be considered.
Qualifications
Engineering degree (Honours bachelor’s degree or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or similar discipline relevant to the specification above
3+ years post-graduate experience
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
Knowledge of hydraulics design packages (Infoworks or Hades) would be an advantage
Knowledge of process modelling software packages (Biowin, GPS-X, Sumo) would be an advantage.
Good academic record
Full clean driving license and own transport required
Fluent written and spoken English is essential
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
