Senior Construction Engineer
We require a seasoned Senior Construction Engineer to join our team. As a key member of the project/site management team and business leaders, you will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities are carried out to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Tasks:
1. Evaluate designs in detail for constructability and create schedules of issues for each phase of construction. Maintain these lists and update them during construction, reviewing regularly with the Project Manager on site.
2. Ensure projects have the necessary engineering and technical resources to fulfill all engineering duties. Provide guidance to any engineering staff reporting directly to you. Understand mentoring and training needs.
3. Coordinate with design teams to ensure the construction team has all the necessary information to construct the Works. Create and maintain RFI (Request for Information) Schedules in line with program requirements. Hold accountable those responsible for providing required design information and responding.
4. Be thoroughly familiar with programs (design, procurement, lead-in, and construction).
5. Challenge designs to identify potential commercial benefits.
6. Take ownership of dimensional control from ensuring projects have the necessary primary control information to the site engineering team providing any required setting out for the Works. Establish robust checking systems to continually monitor and provide required assurance on setting out.
7. In partnership with site management, ensure all contractors implement safe working practices. Review all method statements before work commences. Exercise particular caution in high-risk operations.
8. Ensure all site engineers request and receive timely information so that there is no impact to the program.
9. Develop NCR (nonconformance report) registers and maintain them during construction. Hold accountable those responsible and provide detailed weekly reports to the project management team and commercial team on progress/non-compliance.
10. Before completion, agree snagging procedures with the project manager. Assume responsibility for snagging programs as directed by the PM. Hold subcontractors accountable, complete all snags by time to avoid impacting handover.
11. Provide schedules of lessons learned to the Contracts/Project Manager at the end of the project and at relevant times during its execution. Develop these schedules as the works progress.
12. Offer support to finalize all subcontractor accounts with which you are involved.
13. Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques, taking responsibility to optimize their use.
