**Job Summary:**

The post holder is responsible for managing Point of Care (POC) activities in the Galway Clinic laboratories and clinical areas. This includes ensuring the achievement of agreed targets and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage the activities of the POC function in the Galway Clinic laboratories and clinical areas
">
* Develop and maintain a collaborative approach to service delivery
">
* Lead the development, implementation and review of Point of Care testing in the Galway Clinic
">
* Ensure that all regulatory requirements are met and best practice achieved
">
* Coordinate the connection of POCT devices to the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
">
* Review and manage IQC processes for all POC
">
* Manage, distribute and analyze POC EQA programmes
">
* Induce & supervise scientific and clinical staff in POC activity
">
* Coordinate ongoing training & competency assessment programmes for all POC operators
">
* Set up and maintain a POC Asset Register
">
* Manage & review POC non-conforming events, product recalls, customer complaints
">
* Procure, validate/verify & maintain POC equipment
">
* Oversee POC connectivity to Hospital and Laboratory IT systems
">

Essential Qualifications:
">
The post holder must possess a relevant Scientific Qualification (BSc in Biomedical or related Science). Four years experience in a Medical Laboratory since qualifying as a Medical Scientist is also required. The post holder must be a member or be eligible for membership of the ACSLM and registered with CORU.

Desirable Skills:
">
Experience of working in an ISO accredited Medical Laboratory, knowledge and experience of working with a Laboratory Information System, cross discipline experience in Microbiology, Biochemistry and Haematology, Point of Care Testing, professional approach to work, flexibility in work practice
